Anti-aging medicine (AAM) and hormone replacement therapy (HRT) are medical treatments designed to restore your body’s hormone levels to those that were present earlier in the adult lifespan.

AAM and HRT is designed to restore you to a more youthful sense of self. It includes increasing your strength, flexibility, and physical energy by restoring to normal levels those hormones that typically decrease with the course of aging

AAM and HRT are designed to promote recovery, increased bone mass, increased muscle mass and decreases in adipose tissue.

AAM and HRT are designed to address questions of low testosterone, low thyroid, low growth hormone, insulin resistance and high cortisol.

Hormone replacement and anti-aging medicine is very individualized. However, frequently it involves increasing your body’s ability to build muscle and bone, metabolize fat stores, and decrease inflammation by stimulating pituitary function. Additionally, insulin resistance is addressed with pharmacology, and supplemental hormone replacement therapies are available.

The field of anti-aging medicine is relatively new in terms of medical specialties but has made great breakthroughs in helping us slow down the process of physiological aging. The science that informs AAM and HRT has progressed through the careful investigation of new and existing drugs and by doing clinical research to demystify and debunk old medical myths. For example, previous generations of physicians learned that hormone replacement therapy in men (for example testosterone replacement) increased the incidence of prostate cancer. Recent research from 2023 firmly debunks this old myth.

Psychotherapy can bring immediate relief to the anxiety, despair and rumination that occurs in this setting and an acute life event. Additionally, the psychoanalytic psychotherapy approaches used at Ursa facilitate deep and insight-oriented personal growth to unearth the repetitive thoughts, feelings and repetitive actions that tend to be unnoticed limits to personal development.

Like every other specialty, the law has its own way of thinking and an assortment of technical terms and procedures which can be difficult to understand. The confusion of understanding legal proceedings and language is typically made worse when one is also suffering from the acute stress reaction that comes with the process of litigation. At Ursa we seek to demystify. the legal process by providing an overview of legal principles in a safe and confidential way. At Ursa we do not provide legal advice, but rather work with you to help understand in a general way how legal actions specifically impact a practicing physician.

The time required for psychotherapy is individualized and varies widely across physicians. At Ursa, we help you to understand the scope and breadth of how litigation is impacting your life and tailor the treatment to your specific needs. Because the therapeutic interaction with Dr. Nicolini is privileged and confidential, patients are free to disclose details of their ongoing legal issues without fear of their disclosures impacting any ongoing legal proceedings.

At Ursa, you receive psychotherapy from a licensed clinical psychologist who is also an active practicing physician. Because of this unique combination of skills, Dr. Nicolini. has a keen understanding of the pressures of practicing medicine, and so can relate to  your mental health needs in a way not typically provided by a non-physician clinical psychologist.
